Established in 1979 by Charlie Richie Sr., The Backwoodsman began in Livingston, TX. Charlie Sr was a professional fisherman in the 1970s and a freelance writer for several magazines. After not being promoted to a staff member on a magazine, he was inspired to begin his own publications. The Backwoodsman was born!
The Backwoodsman is known for covering many outdoor subjects, including primitive skills, camping, hunting, knives, bushcraft, self-reliance, and SO MUCH MORE!
